Faith on your work break
You might have five minutes in the break room or a quiet moment before your shift. Choose the situation closest to yours.
A conversation got heatedJames 1:19–20
Maybe a coworker interrupted you, or a correction landed badly. James asks his readers to listen quickly and speak slowly. Think back to the last sentence the other person said. What were they asking you to understand?
Back on the floor
Before you defend your point, try asking, “Can you walk me through what happened from your side?” Give them time to finish.
A prayer for this shift
Lord, slow my first response. Help me hear what I missed.
Nobody saw the extra effortGalatians 6:9–10
Paul encourages the church to keep doing good as opportunities arise. Some of the good on a shift is easy to miss: showing someone a task twice, clearing a walkway, or staying patient with a customer. Think of someone whose work made yours easier today.
Back on the floor
Thank them for the specific thing they did. If you need help with your own workload, name one task and ask for support.
A prayer for this shift
God, help me see the good people do around me. Give me the words to thank them.
I need to own a mistakeProverbs 28:13
An order went to the wrong place or a promise slipped your mind. This proverb connects mercy with admitting wrong and changing course. Think about who needs accurate information from you now.
Back on the floor
Try three plain sentences: “Here is what happened. Here is my part in it. Here is what I can do to put it right.”
A prayer for this shift
Father, give me courage to tell the truth and patience to repair what I can.
